Terms

What you get, what it costs, and how to stop. Sprekka is a reading app for learning a language. The library is free to read; an account and a subscription add the parts that follow you between devices.

Who you are dealing with

Sprekka is operated by TODO: trading name, TODO: registered address. Payments are taken by TODO: merchant of record, who is the seller of record for your purchase and issues your receipt and any tax due on it.

Questions, refunds and complaints: TODO: support email, or the support page.

What is free

Reading is free and stays free. Every piece in the library, its audio, the word popovers, the grammar explanations and the dictionary can be used without an account and without paying. You do not need to give an email address to read.

What a subscription adds

A subscription unlocks the parts that need a server to remember you:

Some individual pieces may be sold separately. Where that is so, the piece says it before you buy, and buying it is not a subscription.

The content, and what it is honest about

Some pieces are written or checked by a native speaker and some are not. A piece that has not been read by a native speaker carries a badge saying so, in the app and in the library listing. That badge is not a formality — it is the difference between "we believe this is natural" and "we know it is", and you are entitled to see which one you are reading.

Sprekka teaches a language; it does not certify anything. Levels shown (A1–C1) are our estimate of difficulty, not an examination result.

Your account

One account is for one person. Do not share sign-in links: they sign in whoever opens them.

You can take a copy of everything your account holds at any time — Download my data in the account menu, or GET /api/me/data — and you can close the account from the same place, which erases it. Closing is immediate and cannot be undone. See the privacy policy for what is stored and for how long.

Cancelling, and the withdrawal right

You can cancel a subscription at any time. It stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew after that. Cancelling does not delete your account, and closing your account does not by itself cancel a subscription taken through an app store — cancel that where you bought it.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK you have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase. Digital content delivered immediately is an exception to that right, and by starting to use a subscription straight away you agree to immediate delivery and accept that the withdrawal right ends once it has been delivered. We will still refund an unused subscription within 14 days if you ask — subject to TODO: merchant of record's own refund policy, which governs the actual payment.

Purchases made inside the iPhone app are handled by Apple under Apple's terms, and refunds for those go through Apple.

Prices and changes

Prices are shown before you pay, in your own currency where the payment provider supports it, and include VAT where it applies. If a price changes it applies from your next renewal, and you will be told before that renewal.

Features may be added, changed or withdrawn. If something you are paying for is withdrawn, you may cancel and be refunded the unused part of the period.

Using it fairly

Do not resell or redistribute the content, scrape it in bulk, or use the app to break the law. Do not try to get at other people's accounts. We may suspend an account that does these things, and will refund the unused part of a subscription if we do.

Who it is for

Sprekka is for adults. Some pieces are literature for adult readers and contain adult themes. There is no age rating on individual pieces yet, so if you are buying for a younger learner, read first.

What we do not promise

The app is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that every translation and grammar note is free of error, or that using it will produce a particular level of fluency. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement — including, in the EU and UK, your right to a remedy if what you bought does not match how it was described.

Law

These terms are governed by TODO: jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the law where you live and may bring a claim in your own courts.

Last updated 9 September 2026. If these terms change in a way that affects what you have paid for, you will be told before your next renewal. Privacy policy
