According to the Primary Chronicle, Prince Ihor of Kyiv was killed in 945 by the Drevlians, a tribe he had tried to tax twice. His widow Olha ruled for their young son Sviatoslav, and the chronicle tells of her harsh revenge on the Drevlians. She reorganised how tribute was collected, and she travelled to Constantinople, where she was baptised; the year of the visit is debated. She was one of the first Christian rulers of Rus', and the Church later made her a saint.
