How is coffee harvested on a Colombian finca?

Only the red cherries are picked, by hand, from six in the morning, into a basket at the waist; pay is by the kilo, and the main harvest runs from October to December. The beans are washed and sun-dried, the best are exported, and old Willys jeeps carry the sacks down to the village.
