What happened
On 30 July 1419 a procession of Hus's followers led by the preacher Jan Želivský stormed the New Town Hall in Prague and threw the councillors from its windows; all of them were killed. Fifteen years of war followed. The Hussites, led above all by Jan Žižka, beat several crusades sent against them with wagon forts and a new kind of infantry. The wars ended in 1434 at Lipany, where moderate Hussites, together with Catholic lords, defeated the radicals.
